Pratibha’s Pottery
Pottery is a large part of Pratibha’s repertoire along with painting. She came to pottery about 9 years ago. Its connection to the elements is what she loves. Her approach to pottery is to explore its interplay between the visual and tangible, concrete objects.

Her experience as a painter and former sculptor influences the shape and design of her pots. She treats clay as an opportunity to have a visual adventure and is always coming up with new forms and combinations.

Along with a group of potters, Pratibha has a Japanese-style kiln, called an Anagama. This allows them to do frequent wood firings. Wood firings are close to her heart because the random strokes of the fire and ash – she sees the pots as the canvas, the ash as the paint and the fire as the brush – become an extension of her own spiritual and creative sources.
